     Personality

Nessarose is a gentle and sweet girl on the outside, and deep down inside...she is just as gentle and sweet. She likes to take things at face value as much as possible, and will rarely conceal her feelings about a certain situation. While she will keep secrets if asked to, she always tries to encourage that said secrets be shared. However, as she greatly dislikes conflict, she will usually let it go if she feels things are escalating in a violent direction.

Similarly, while she is quite good at reading all of someone's emotions, and can often tell if someone is upset, at the same time she usually shies away from comforting them. Most of the time she'll wait until they've gotten out of the funk before presenting them with something simple and sweet, or perhaps some piece of clothing tailored to them. She knows quite a few recipes for drinks, which is her main method of comforting people. However, when others are in a good mood, she is likely to try and reach out to them, since she enjoys befriending others.

In the rare cases when Nessa does get angry, it's usually combined with sorrow or disappointment of some sort. She rarely shows pure anger, even when confronted with something she hates, since most of those things she hates are based on painful memories. Even when she does get angry, the anger usually dissipates first. She's also bad at holding grudges, except for the one she has directed at the Raticate line in general. Her brother has joked that she's saved all her "grudge energy" for that one hatred, and everything else can dissolve easily.

     Background

Nessa's family were all war refugees, fleeing from a war-razed country to find another to call home. Her grandparents on her mother's side and her grandfather on her mom's side all died in the war or during the escape, and her surviving uncle was left with only one leg. Only her mothers really made it out unscathed, mainly because they were sent away long before the war began in earnest. Even so, both of them were left with some emotional scars from that. While her moms tried not to tell Nessa about those stories, she begged them out of her uncle and grandmother. It was then that she learned that genetically altered Pokemon had been used in that war, and it had been one of them that sank the boat her grandfather on her mom's side was on, as well as taken off her uncle's leg. This started a combined fear and hate of such Pokemon, although she never told anyone about it.

Nessa's moms had started up their own theater company after settling in, and were married after it and they had been going steady for a while. Both Nessa and her older brother were raised in the theater, learning how to run it as well as how to perform on stage. Nessa loved all of it, while her older brother eventually went for more traditional education. He would sometimes take time to teach what he was learning to his younger sister, fearing that their parents weren't providing all the education she could get. She took in what she could, but never really liked it, even when he told her that it was something she would have to learn if she was going to inherit the caretaking of the theater. She just grinned and said that she would leave that up to him. And truly enough, after he finished his schooling, he came back to continue helping with the theater. It seemed like the sibling pair would indeed inherit the theater.

However, all these plans she had been making changed when she overheard her mothers talking about expanding a branch of their theater overseas. However, they couldn't decide which of their employees to put in charge of it. Nessa revealed herself, and declared that she would do it. Anthony, however, feared for what could hapen, and said that he wouldn't leave, hoping to make her change her mind. She simply said that she would find someone else to help with that. Her mothers said that if she could find someone to do that part for her, as well as a form of transport, they would let her go. None of the theater employees were willing to accept the job, so she traveled down to the docks in hope of killing two birds with one stone. It was there that she met Columba and Celandine, and learned of their plans. Upon learning that both of them were much more capable at calculations than her, she told them of her own plans. After some consideration, Celandine agreed to let her aboard, on the condition that she design a symbol for their kingdom.

Nessa's mothers and brother were naturally shocked upon learning that she had actually found someone to help her with the management. They demanded to meet these two people, and after a bit of discussion, decided the two were trustworthy. With reluctance, they handed over a bunch of sewing supplies and information about establishing a branch of Shooting Star Studios, and let her go on.
